We are a member owned neighborhood club located in Sunnyvale, California. Members enjoy our lap swimming pool kept at 81 degrees year round and our two recently renovated lighted tennis courts. During the summer our swim lesson programs are tailored to fit the needs of adolescents and tiny tots and are available for both members and non-members alike. We also offer private lessons for children and adults.

Families enjoy family hosted barbecues each Sunday during summer months, as well as other social events conducted throughout the year for both adults and children. If you are interested in our club, please feel free to call or email our staff at (408)739-3833 or Contact Us for additional information.

Board of Directors Overview

The Fairbrae Board of Directors’ (BoDs’) responsibilities include: Collaborate with members to ensure a Club strategy is outlined, shared and executed ensuring the joint goals of members and BoD are met.  Determine feasible methods of addressing Club maintenance to ensure the Club is kept in working order. Provide direction and support to staff to ensure overall running of Club.

The Director role is an elected position. Directors must have been Club members in good standing for eight months prior to their election.  There are seven total Director seats each serving a two year term. There is an election each year in March where approximately half of the BoD seats are elected (four seats in even years, three seats in odd years).  BoD members may serve a maximum of two terms back-to-back (four total years). You must be re-elected to serve a second term. All Directors are volunteers.

The BoD meets once per month in the Fairbrae Clubhouse, and the schedule is based on Board availability. BoD meetings typically last two to three hours and members will be notified of the next upcoming meeting via email or this website.

There is some communication via email outside of the BoD meeting, requiring perhaps another hour per month. Board members traditionally lead activities at the annual Spring Aboard summer season kick-off in May, requiring 4-6 hours on a Sunday afternoon.

There are four officer positions that the BoD self-elects at the first BoD meeting after each election (the April meeting).  The officer positions are: President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Taking an officer position means taking on a bit more time commitment, depending on the position.

During BoD meetings, the Club Manager (Alex) reports to the BoD on items that need fixing, member issues and requests, and the status of ongoing projects.  The Treasurer also reports to the BoD with a brief financial update/progress report. The Secretary takes notes during the meeting and publishes the minutes for BoD review and release to the membership.
